Manufacturing leaders are grappling with how to interpret the financial market volatility seen in the first three weeks of 2016, much of which has stemmed from worries about a global economic slowdown and plummeting crude oil prices. Fortunately, markets recovered a little of the losses on Friday, but equities were down for the week as a whole, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average off 7.6 percent year-to-date. It had been down more than 11 percent at one point midweek.

IGP North America LLC, Louisville, Ky., has appointed Aris Rollins as Senior Technical Sales Manager for its North American Divisions in the Western US. PCI held their annual Hall of Fame Dinner during the Annual Meeting in September at the Green Valley Ranch in Henderson, Nevada.  This year three individuals were inducted to the PCI Hall of Fame, each has served the association for many years and was nominated by industry peers because of their efforts, accomplishments and contributions to PCI and the industry.

Another option to reduce VOCs is to switch from liquid to powder coatings, which are VOC- and HAP-free. Because they don’t emit vapors (or strong smells), powder coating shops don’t require as much ventilation, which can lower cold-climate heating costs. In addition, parts that are powder coated see fewer surface defects, need less rework and tend to be more durable.
