Powder Coating Show Wrap-Up
Posted on Wednesday, October 1, 2014
Attendees at this year’s Powder Coating Show enjoyed a quality conference program, quality exhibits and quality networking events. Were you lucky enough to have attended the show that brought the powder coating industry together at one venue for three days in Indianapolis this past September?
Tuesday, September 16, allowed for exhibitors set up their booths at the Indianapolis Convention Center while the pre-registered attendees checked in and the on-site participants registered for the show. Several technical sessions were held in the afternoon, which covered the following topics: Pretreatment for Ultimate Powder Coating Protection; Powder Coating from Start to Finish; Optimizing Your Powder Coating Process; and Advancements in the World of Powder Coating.
After registration wrapped up that evening, 85 people headed over to the Lucas Oil Stadium for an unforgettable networking event. Guests arrived at the stadium of the Indianapolis Colts NFL football team, where they were welcomed into the Quarterback Suite. There, they had an incredible view of the field from above to admire while sipping on a beverage and enjoying first-class made-to-order hearty hors d’oeuvres— all the while getting to know their powder coating colleagues in a fun setting. Then guests were treated to a guided tour of the press box, the locker room and out through the tunnel onto the field where they got to take all the photos they wanted.
Wednesday kicked off with Garrison Wynn, the Opening Keynote Speaker, who entertained and enlightened attendees with his presentation: “The Real Truth About Success: What the Top 1% Do Differently and Why They Won’t Tell You.” The exhibits were open all day, and technical sessions in the four tracks ran concurrently throughout the day. That evening, the JW Marriott’s Griffin Ballroom was the venue for the PCI® Reception & Casino Night networking event. Attendees and exhibitors alike were able to talk shop—or not—as they played at the gaming tables. Winners cashed in their chips for raffle tickets, which were dropped into the buckets in front of the prizes they wanted a chance to take home. All proceeds from this event went toward the PCI® Scholarship Fund. The show wrapped up on Thursday at 3 p.m., but not before another day of quality technical sessions and exhibits.
On Wednesday and Thursday, PCI® hosted Happy Hour during the last hour of the exhibits, when attendees and exhibitors had another opportunity to network in a more casual manner. Additionally, attendees had a chance to win raffle prizes in both the PCI® booth and in Gema’s booth—sponsor of the Question & Answer column “Ask Joe Powder” in the association’s official publication, Powder Coated Tough (see sidebar on page 10).
On the next several pages, enjoy the photos that were taken at this year’s event, which should get you excited for next year! The Powder Coating Show is the only trade show dedicated solely to the powder coating market. So, saddle up and get ready to race to Louisville, Ky., for the 2015 Powder Coating Show: The Winning Finish, which will be held May 6-7.
