Director's Message: It's Time to Huddle Up

On May 6, The Powder Coating
Institute held a webinar
for all members to explain
the changes in the association’s
committee structure. If you were
unable to attend the webinar, you
can view content from it at www.powdercoating.org. It’s the feature
item on the home page.
This restructure was executed
by the PCI board of directors
(BOD) in an effort to focus more
clearly on our strategic plan and
our mission: The Powder Coating
Institute is committed to serving its
members by promoting the benefits
of powder coating technology.
And, as part of the strategic plan,
the BOD developed the following
strategic statement: Driving
Sustainable Powder Coating
Industry Growth.
We now have four major
committees—Education,
Promotion, Membership and
Certification—and each is
supported by sub-committees with
targeted duties.
As we implemented this new
structure at our Annual Meeting
in June, we recognized that
each committee will need roles
filled by members with different
expertise. The late, great football
coach, Vince Lombardi, once said,
“Individual commitment to a group
effort—that is what makes a team
work, a company work, a society
work, a civilization work.”
So, we are in the midst of a
renewed effort to recruit committee
help from our member companies.
We hope that you will help us
out and make an individual
commitment to your association.
Active involvement in PCI offers:
- Support from industry
connections you need for
problem solving.
- Up-to-date industry news and
information.
- Many varied opportunities for
personal development.
- A place to contribute your
voice within the industry.
- Greater membership value for
your organization.
- Inspiration and fulfillment.
This is your industry and
your association. Taking a more
active role will help you and your
company, while at the same time
benefit PCI and our industry. It’s a
win-win.
A great place to begin
your involvement is at the PC
Summit, which will be held in
Columbus, Ohio, on October 4-5.
It delivers the latest in powder
coating innovation to engineers,
technologists, scientists, and
marketing and management
professionals. The PC Summit—a
place of learning and exchange—
is produced by The Powder
Coating Research Group, Powder
Coated Tough magazine and The
Powder Coating Institute. To learn
more and to register, visit www.powdercoating.org and click on the
Events tab.
To stress how important your
participation is, I will leave you
with another Lombardi quote: “The
achievements of an organization are
the results of the combined effort of
each individual.” It’s time to huddle
up and work together to push that
ball over the goal line. Come help
us make an impact as the voice of
the powder coating industry.
