Resolve to Get Active
Posted on Wednesday, February 10, 2016
Of course, January is the perfect time for
resolutions. Some people set goals to become
active and lose weight, so they sign up for a gym
membership. Others may resolve to spend more time
with their families. Companies also set goals for the
year; these typically surround increasing sales and
margins.
As a part of the powder coating industry, your goal
could be to join the hundreds of others members at The
Powder Coating Institute (PCI) and discover the true
value of being an active member in the association. I
emphasize the word “active,” because just like a gym
membership, you need to use it to reap the benefits.
I can tell you from experience that being an active
member will pay off in spades for your company.
Back in 2002, I took over as powder coating sales
director at Sherwin Williams, and there were folks
who questioned the value of a PCI membership.
At that time, we resolved to be active members of
the association. Do you know that it took less than
one year to realize the exceptional value that can be
obtained through active membership? Networking at
the numerous events that PCI sponsors throughout the
year brought us knowledge that we didn’t have before.
By participating in various training events and technical
sessions, our company gained numerous leads that
have turned into long-time customer relationships.
Along the way, I have met many colleagues who are
valuable resources when I am looking for technical
advice.
So, as we head into this New Year, set a goal: Resolve
to become an active member of The Powder Coating
Institute. Don’t be the person who joins a health club
and then sits at home. Rather, champion the cause and
realize the benefits of active membership!
