Membership Memo—Making (Re)Connections

Fueled by the vision and motivation of our founder, Ray Lane, LANE Enterprises was founded in 1934 during the throes of the Great Depression, certainly not the optimal time to begin a business. Today, LANE is the nation’s second largest producer of corrugated metal and high-density polyethylene pipe, and steel and aluminum structural plate. The corporation now has 11 locations, including LANE Enterprises Technical Coatings, founded in 1979. Located in Pennsylvania, we are a leader in the application of powder coating over structural steel. Throughout our 35+ years in the powder coating industry, we have evolved with the times to provide our clients with custom solutions for their powder coating needs and are constantly tasked with keeping up with the ongoing changes the industry. PCI has always provided us with updates, information, education, and ways to connect with other powder coaters and industry leaders.

Recently, LANE rejoined PCI following a lapse in our membership. A major factor in driving this decision was a great experience we had with PCI’s Executive Director, Kevin Coursin. We are looking to expand our powder coating footprint, particularly as it relates to the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and its architectural exposed structural steel (AESS) initiative. Kevin was more than helpful and willing to lend whatever aid he could through PCI resources and by partnering with his/our connections to promote powder as a verified and optimal option to protect structural steel from corrosion. After further discussions between Kevin and LANE, it was mutually agreed that the powder coating industry should work as a united front to promote powder as a preferred coating option in this market, as both of us have seen other corrosion options working diligently to penetrate the steel markets locally and nationally.

After our experience with Kevin and PCI, and the continued added value that PCI provides (webinars, industry updates, etc.), we found it an easy decision to rejoin PCI. We look forward to growing our relationship with PCI as we strive to promote powder coating as a viable process for corrosion protection in the structural steel industry.
