A Great Organization. Even Better People.

I have been a member of the Powder Coating Institute for 25 years. As I reflect on what the organization has meant to me, I think not about the organization itself, but the staff and the member volunteers that have been, and continue to be, involved in it. Many faces have changed over the past quarter century, with only a select few remaining the same. One thing has remained constant, however, and that is the dedicated effort of the people in this organization to share technology and methods and to educate current and prospective members of the benefits of powder coating technology.
Bill Gates once said, “Great organizations demand a high level of commitment by the people involved.” Bill’s statement implies that the level of success of an organization is dependent upon the efforts of its people.
I think about all the benefits and opportunities that have been created for the members of PCI over the last several decades. It would hard for me not to classify it as a great organization. The tireless work of the staff to organize annually several regional workshops, a technical conference, and manage content for its publication should be evidence enough, but what really stands out is the consistently high quality of all those activities.
Over the 25 years that I have been involved in PCI, I have been invited as a conference speaker a handful of times. I can tell you from experience that it takes a great deal of time and effort to prepare and provide what is, hopefully, relevant and valuable information to those attending my sessions. From that perspective, it amazes me that the staff and member volunteers can provide these things to the entire membership month after month and year after year.
I am very grateful and feel fortunate to be a member of PCI, because every year I am imparted with new and valuable knowledge about the industry and technology that has been my professional home for more than two decades. That is all made possible by the highly committed people of PCI. Thank you to all that have made and continue to make PCI a great organization.
