Shaping the Future Together: PCI® Annual Meeting Huge Success
Posted on Sunday, June 1, 2014
With the largest attendance in many years, PCI® members held their
annual meeting in the sunny beach resort of Destin, FL May 18-20,
2014. The focus of the event was on shaping the future of the powder
coating industry together—the theme of member engagement was
carried through the meeting.
The opening keynote address featured Al Lucia—a leadership coach;
also featured was Scott Bjornstad from McGladrey who presented a
very thorough overview on The State of Manufacturing, Marie Clark
and David Darling from the American Coatings Association on the
Regulatory Update, and Susan Bershad from the National Fire Protection
Association on the NFPA Regulatory Update. All speaker presentations
are available in the Members Section on the PCI® web site.
In addition to the professional speakers, all PCI® committees met
face-to-face and each committee chair gave their reports on PCI®
committee activities. The new Regulatory & Advocacy committee met
for the first time and promises to be one of the most active committees
in PCI®.
Board President, Bob Allsop of Nordson, gave his President’s Charge
for 2014, reviewed the great successes that PCI® had in 2013, and gave
every indication that 2014 will be successful as well.
One of the highlights of every annual meeting is the incredible
peer-to-peer networking and the well-run networking events set up by
the PCI® staff. The meeting was capped off by the annual Hall of Fame
award dinner featuring the 2014 inductees Peter Gribble (see Tough Talk
on page 41) and Chuck Wright (posthumously).
Finally, because the Powder Coating Show is moving to spring 2014,
the Board of Directors decided to move the 2015 Annual Meeting to the
fall of 2015, location to be decided.
