AkzoNobel Opens New Mega-Warehouse in Texas

Posted on Thursday, June 21, 2018

AkzoNobel, a leading global paint and coatings manufacturer, is proud to announce the opening of a newly-constructed mega-warehouse in La Porte, Texas. The new facility serves as a hub for all of the company’s Houston-area Marine and Protective Coatings warehouses in one central location.

The state-of-the-art warehouse is operated by Palmer Logistics and is located at 4111 Malone Drive, LaPorte, TX 77507. This move combines stocking locations for AkzoNobel’s coatings brands, including Chartek, Devoe, International, Interlux and Awlgrip products.

"The new warehouse enables us to offer our customers a more efficient and timelier service,” says Chuck Hampton, AkzoNobel’s Regional Business Director, Marine & Protective Coatings North America. “AkzoNobel is committed to supplying high-quality products. In the new facility, we can now build and centralize inventory for each of our product lines in a more structured way, which means increased availability of our products to our customers.”

“We are pleased that AkzoNobel chose to consolidate its warehousing needs into our new facility,” says Brett Mears, President of Palmer Logistics. “Our business is built on three pillars – safety, reliability and integrity – and our customers and the safe handling of their products is our top priority.”

The consolidation of the regional warehouses started in April. AkzoNobel will finish phasing each product line into the new warehouse by late June. During the transition phase, operations at all involved warehouses will see minimal effects as product is transferred to the new mega-warehouse, and manufacturing operations are not impacted.

The new warehouse will continue to offer “will call” service and will remain open for walk-up business for Marine and Protective Coatings customers.
Hampton adds, “We will continue to assist our customers with quick turnaround service. Additionally, tinting and color-matching service is available at the will-call counter at our new central warehouse.”
