Even though there is widespread use of functional powder coatings for protective purposes, the vast majority of powders are utilized in decorative applications where color, gloss and appearance may be the primary attributes. The selection of a coating should be undertaken as a cooperative effort between the end user and the powder formulator. There are a wide variety of coating types available, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. This section highlights PCI® members that produce powder coatings.
