Julie Hanes has joined The Powder Coating Institute (PCI®) as events manager. She is an action and results-oriented meeting/event planner with strong organization background and 14-plus years’ experience. Hanes is a Certified Exhibits Manager (CEM) and attended Texas Tech University where she studied Business Administration. She lives in Dallas, and her hobbies include traveling with her husband, cooking, discovering craft beer and football. Please join us in welcoming Julie to the PCI® community! Estron Chemical hired Tony Pledger as business manager for Europe and the Middle East. This new position is an important element of Estron’s strategy for continuing growth outside of North America. Pledger was formerly the global sales manager for powder coating cross linkers and additives at Ems-Chemie AG. He has more than 25 years of experience and a deep knowledge of the powder coatings industry, having worked previously for both powder coating and raw material manufacturers. He will be based in the United Kingdom.

Fred Allen, Ph.D., joined Axalta Coating Systems as global technology director for its powder coatings business. In this newly created role, Dr. Allen will focus on developing and implementing global strategies for powder technology to meet customer needs worldwide. He holds 17 patents and has published over 20 technical publications about materials and coatings. Dr. Allen received his Ph.D. in materials science and surface chemistry from Harvard University. He will be based in Houston.

TCI Powder Coatings has launched its new inside sales program which will focus on small businesses—one of TCI’s fastest growing customer markets. Partnered with Intech Services, TCI says they will now be able to reach and provide service to hundreds of more current and potential customers. TCI says this additional sales channel will complement the efforts of its field sales team and its customer service group, not replace them. Milwaukee-based Engineered Products and Services Inc. (EPSI) has added three members to its sales force. Brian Gaylord is representing EPSI’s custom and standard masking solutions to eastern Wisconsin. Elvin Knox is responsible for Illinois, eastern Iowa and Missouri, and western Wisconsin. Steve Cabanatuan is heading up EPSI’s inside sales efforts for the U.S. and Canadian market.
